Korean musical groups like BTS have reshaped the global landscape, breaking geographic and language barriers to completely redefine the bond between artists and fans. This panel brings together scholars, writers, and organizers to look closely at what being in fandom means today: the spark of joining, local versus digital spaces, community activism across borders, and turning passion into purpose.

The panel takes place in the Koret Auditorium on the Lower Level of the Main Library and is supported by Friends of the San Francisco Public Library. All library locations are wheelchair accessible.
The speaker lineup features:
- Moderator: Todd Inoue, contributing writer for the San Francisco Chronicle with 35+ years writing on music and culture (VIBE, iTunes/Apple Music).
- Panelist: Vernadette Vicuña Gonzalez, UC Berkeley Professor of Ethnic Studies, Asian American & Asian Diaspora Studies coordinator, and co-editor of Bangtan Remixed: A Critical BTS Reader.
- Panelist: Jun Shao, founder and director of @82allnight, who has produced more than 49 Bay Area AAPI and K-Pop community events.
- Panelist: Stephanie Parker, host of The Kpopcast, Stanford Media Studies M.A., and former team member at YouTube, Viki, and Soompi.
